Procedure Details

At Aqua Clinic, our qualified injector will complete a thorough review of your heath history, perform a physical examination, discuss your treatment goals, and review potential adverse events and management strategies if such events occur.  A local or topical anesthetic is typically utilized to block the nerve endings to reduce pain during treatment.  Your skin will then be cleansed and sterilized with Stanhexidine 2% with 4% isopropyl alcohol.  Depending on location and area being treated, injections may be completed by the use of serial injections with an ultra fine needle, and/or a cannula (a sterile plastic needle) to instill the clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid. We will then review post-procedure care. In case you change your mind, you can opt to reverse the procedure with Hyaluronidase, a magic eraser that dissolves hyaluronic acid.

FAQ’s

Who is a suitable candidate for dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are suitable for individuals seeking to improve facial volume, smooth wrinkles, and achieve natural-looking results. A consultation with a qualified injector will determine if dermal fillers are appropriate for specific aesthetic goals.

What should I expect during a dermal filler consultation?

During a dermal filler consultation, your injector will assess your facial structure, discuss your aesthetic goals, and recommend the most suitable filler type and treatment plan for you.

What areas can be treated with dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are commonly used to treat lines around the mouth (nasolabial folds), marionette lines, cheeks, lips, and under-eye hollows. They can also be used for non-surgical nose reshaping and hand rejuvenation.

When will I see results?

You will see results immediately.

How long do dermal filler results last?

The duration of dermal filler results varies depending on the type of filler used and individual factors. Typically, hyaluronic acid fillers last 6–18 months, calcium hydroxyapatite fillers last up to 12 months, and poly-L-lactic acid fillers can last up to 2 years.

Is the dermal filler injection procedure painful?

The dermal filler injection procedure is generally well-tolerated. Most fillers contain a local anesthetic (lidocaine) to minimize discomfort during the injections. Patients may experience mild swelling or bruising, which usually resolves quickly.

Is there any downtime after dermal filler treatment?

Once the injection has taken place, the filler will bind and add volume to the region. In rare cases, a patient will develop little redness and mild bleeding. This will dissipate in no more than an hour. If minor swelling is present, a robust recovery plan is offered and the skin will settle in three days.

When can I return to normal activity?

You can return to normal activity after the procedure. However, we do recommend the following:

  • Not touching, rubbing, or manipulating the injection area
  • Avoiding extreme heat (sun exposure, sauna, tanning beds) for 2 to 3 days
  • Avoiding strenuous activity for 2 to 3 days
  • Avoiding the application of makeup for at least 24 hours

What are the side effects of hyaluronic dermal filler injections?

The vast majority of patients do not experience any side effects.  Common and minor side effects include infection, local irritation, minor bruising at the injection sites, and headache. Rare side effects include tissue and retinal necrosis, embolism, or serious allergic reaction. Please contact us immediately if you experience increased pain or unforeseeable swelling after your treatment.

Fat Dissolving

Some fat just does not go away with diet and exercise, no matter how hard you work at it. If you’ve tried everything and you’re still left with stubborn isolated pockets of fat, fat dissolving injections are a nonsurgical solution that can help get rid of them. With quick treatment times and no downtime or extended recovery required, this simple procedure can turn double chins, back fat, bra fat, and more into a fading memory.

Procedure Details

Before the procedure, the unwanted fat under your chin is carefully marked to determine the dosage required for the injection of the area. During the injection, the active agent disrupts fat cells at the chin area. As the body gets rid of the adipocytes and lipocytes as waste, the double chin is reduced permanently. Your nurse will review your results with you and determine the number and frequency of repeat treatments. Depending on your response, you may require 2-4 sessions for optimal double-chin reduction.

FAQ’s

How do fat-dissolving injections work?

Your body uses a natural chemical called deoxycholic acid to help break down and absorb fat naturally. Fat-dissolving injections use this same chemical in a concentrated, targeted way to remove areas of unwanted fat.

How many treatments will I need?

Although you will start to see results after the first treatment, most patients require at least two treatments, and maybe more depending on the area to be treated. We will outline a treatment plan to address your individual concerns at your initial consultation. Treatments are administered 6 weeks apart.

What is the recovery like?

You will experience swelling for a few days after receiving your injections, and the site may be tender. Icing the area afterwards can help reduce any discomfort or inflammation.

How long do the results last?

Fat-dissolving injections permanently destroy fat in the area where they are administered. After you’ve completed your course of treatment, you should not need further sessions to maintain the results.

PDO Thread- Lift

PDO threads are synthetic, absorbable sterile surgical sutures composed of Polydioxanone. PDO sutures/threads are commonly used during open heart and thoracic surgery and have been found to be one of the safest materials to be implanted in the body.  When placed under the skin, PDO threads produce controlled fibrosis in the surrounding area, and this gives rise to the creation of collagen networks. After 4 to 6 months the body fully absorbs the suture without leaving any scar tissue.

Benefits

  • Induces collagen production
  • Improves skin textures and elasticity
  • Reduces wrinkles

How does PDO Thread-Lift work?

Once implanted into the skin, the threads produce an immediate and visible lifting effect. The lifting effect continues over the next 2 to 3 months as new collagen is produced around the threads. Over time, the threads are broken down and reabsorbed by the body; however, the new collagen produced due to the threads aids in maintaining long lasting results. The new collagen production created by the PDO threads also improves skin texture, laxity, and overall complexion.

Duration

45 – 60 Minutes

Recommended Sessions

More than 18 months

FAQ’s

What areas can PDO Thread Lift be used upon?

Thread lift is performed on the face, including the cheeks, browns, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and the neck. Your nurse will advise you on which type of PDO Thread Lift procedure to use on what areas.

What are the differences between Thread Lifts and Dermal Fillers?

The PDO Thread lift is an effective non-surgical face lifting treatment that is suitable for anyone looking to improve the appearance of sagging skin. This treatment is suitable for someone who is willing to undergo some injections, and who wants to attain an immediate lift of the facial contours without undergoing a facelift surgery. It is best suited for men and women who are unwilling to tolerate the long downtime of a facelift surgery but want to look refreshed and lifted.

Is PDO Thread Lift painful?

The PDO Thread Lift is a minimally invasive procedure that causes micro-injuries to the skin layers. Therefore, your injector may provide you with a local anesthetic before the procedure to relax and minimize the discomfort.

Who is a good candidate for a Thread Lift?

The procedure is best suited for men and women in their late 30’s to mid 50’s. This is when we commonly start to see the effects of ageing become apparent. Thread lifts can easily and safely be performed on the brows, cheeks, jawline, upper lip, marionette lines and neck. Several areas can be combined to provide a beautiful Mini Cosmetic Face Lift or a Full Cosmetic Face Lift.

How long will a Thread Lift last?

Thread lifts will generally last from one to three years. The collagen enhanced sutures begin stimulating your natural collagen immediately and as they remain under the skin doing their wonderful job of lifting for a year or more until the sutures have dissolved, then your own collagen rejuvenates and continues to build, providing your skin with lasting long-term benefits.

When can I return to normal activity and what can I expect post treatment?

Most people can return to normal activities the next day. Mild swelling and bruising can occur, and cover-up make-up may be necessary for a few days or weeks. Strenuous exercise is not recommended since straining right after the procedure may move the threads. It is recommended to keep a rested face for at least 24 to 48 hours.

Who should not have PDO thread lift treatment?

PDO Thread lift treatment is not recommended for use in pregnant or lactating women, anyone with a history of an allergic reaction to the medical device or any of its active ingredients (Polydioxanone), as well as anyone with infected or inflamed skin, bleeding disorders, or individuals with a tendency to produce excessive scarring such as keloids and/or hypertrophic scars, unrealistic expectations, excessive skin laxity, autoimmune diseases, vascular disease, and other conditions that cause delayed healing.

What are the best treatments and skincare to pair with Thread Lift?

Our medical treatments such as Dermal Fillers, Neuromodulators and Skin Rejuvenation are a nice compliment to your Thread Lift treatment depending on your treatment goals. Results from any treatment will last longer with regular facials and of course our medical grade skincare.

What are the potential side effects of PDO Thread Treatment?

The vast majority of patients do not experience any side effects. Common and minor side effects include local irritation, bruising at the injection sites, suture extrusions, and temporary dimpling of the skin. Occasionally, a suture can show itself just below the skin. Most of these potential problems resolve over the following weeks to months after the procedure as the PDO threads break down and dissolve.

Rare side effects include infection, scarring, serious allergic reactions, anesthesia reactions, skin pigment changes, and damage to nerves and deeper structures.

This is not a complete list of side effects. Please contact us immediately if you experience any rare and/or unforeseeable side effects after your treatment.

PRP

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) skin rejuvenation, also known as a vampire facial, is a form of regenerative medicine that can harness the natural growth factors your body uses to heal skin tissue. Aqua Clinic is a leading provider of PRP skin rejuvenation in Toronto.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy harnesses the body’s natural ability to heal itself by concentrating the elements in your own blood that promote growth and healing into a powerful serum directly injected into the area in need of repair. In aesthetic medicine, this regenerative treatment can be combined with other procedures or used on its own.

Aqua Clinic offers two types of PRP treatment: the PRP Glow Up Booster and PRP Hair Restoration. Our Glow Up Booster combines the healing properties of PRP with collagen injections targeted to restore volume and reduce the look of scarring or wrinkles for a targeted effect that stimulates your natural healing where it can do the most good. PRP Hair Restoration helps to address hair loss or thinning hair by injecting the healing plasma into the scalp at the level of the hair follicles to promote hair growth.

Benefits:

  •  Firmer‚ smoother and younger looking skin
  •  Heal acne scars naturally
  •  Improve skin tone and texture
  •  Reduce wrinkles and fine lines
  •  Stimulate collagen growth
  •  Reverse the signs of aging
  •  Minimize pore size

How does PRP work?

During the procedure, blood is drawn from the patient’s arm and PRP is separated from the rest of the blood’s components. Platelets are blood cells with growth healing functions that stimulate the regrowth of collagen and elastin.

When your own platelet-rich blood is injected back into your skin, the body naturally begins a healing process that helps to reduce wrinkles, reverse the signs of aging, and remove acne scars.

FAQ’s

Why is PRP skin rejuvenation therapy known as vampire facial?

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses the platelets within our own blood to heal damaged skin, thus giving this miracle treatment the name ‘vampire facial’.

What are the key advantages of PRP therapy facials and why are they so popular?

  • PRP therapy facials truly transform the look of your skin in positive ways
  • Allergic reactions to PRP are extremely rare because the plasma comes from your own body
  • Pain and discomfort is minimal and the procedure is relatively short.

How long does a PRP treatment take?

You can expect a PRP treatment to take an hour or two, depending on the exact procedure you’re having. This includes the time you’ll need for your blood to be drawn and spun in a centrifuge to extract the desired elements.

What is the downtime for my PRP Glow Up?

Adding PRP to a dermal filler injection doesn’t change the expected downtime—which is to say, there really isn’t any! You might experience a little redness in the area of the injection that should go away within a day.

What’s the benefit of adding PRP to a dermal filler?

Dermal fillers are recommended to improve the appearance of areas where your natural fat and collagen have reduced over time. A combined injection at those sites allows the PRP to stimulate your body to replace collagen and elastin that have been lost while the filler provides an instant volume corrector. Patients receiving this combined treatment report results that can last up to six months longer than that of fillers alone.

Who can benefit from PRP hair restoration treatment?

Both men and women who suffer from thinning hair or weak hair growth are candidates for PRP treatment. PRP works best on areas where there is existing hair that is thinning, rather than on areas that are completely bald.

When can I expect to see results from my PRP hair treatment and how long will they last?

For the best results, plan on repeating your treatments monthly for the first three to four months, and then every three to six months thereafter, depending on your individual response to the therapy and your results. It usually takes at least six months to accurately judge the degree of regrowth. However, you will probably notice decreased hair shedding well before then.
